New York mayor Michael Bloomberg was in London recently to discuss the current economic crisis the world is facing.
While he was there, Bloomberg stopped by Clarence House to meet with Prince Harry for a half hour.
According to aides, the two talked mostly about Harry’s charity Sentebale, which he set up in memory of his mother, Princess Diana, to help needy children in the southern African kingdom of Lesotho.
Bloomberg was going to mention his visit during a economic roundtable. Reportedly, the mayor was going to say: “We’re actually a lot alike: we both like to go out and have a good time, we’ve both been called style icons, and our mothers both considered us a prince.” But for reasons that were not clear, the mayor did not actually mention the visit — or say the joke — when he delivered the speech in the evening.
It is also unclear whether Bloomberg specifically asked to meet with the prince, or did he go to Clarence House and somehow ran into the third in the line to the British throne.
